Teaching

Growing up as a shy only child, I found it difficult to foster a sense of self-esteem. I found it challenging to try new things and pursue friendships. As an an adult, I am now highly aware of the many ways in which a theatre education aided in my growth as a person. From fostering creativity to building community, the arts were a pivotal aspect of my upbringing. I am incredibly passionate about theatre education as a confidence building tool.

I fell into teaching artistry when I was in high school (before I was aware of what a Teaching Artist really was), student directing with my community theatre company. From there, opportunities where performing and teaching intersected came my way and I learned more about how I could pursue my love of theatre education alongside my other artistic career goals.

I’ve had the pleasure of working as a TA with many companies across the country including Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Scranton Shakespeare Festival, StudentsLive (NYC), Mayo Performing Arts Center, The Utah Shakespeare Festival, and others! I have experience teaching in-school residencies, after-school classes, and master classes. Areas of focus include musical theatre, acting through song, acting, Shakespeare, and cross-curricular theatre.

Regardless of whether or not students choose to pursue a career in the arts, I believe that theatre education instills a sense of pride, community, discipline, and play in anyone that participates. I am excited to continue growing as a Teaching Artist!
